Bad Hair Day

I have a hair stylist that I love!!  Her name is Kristen.  She is great.  Always gives me a good cut and color.  The only downside to her is that she is expensive.

So being the cheap-o that I am, I thought I would try and save some money.
There is a girl in my ward, I'll call her Jill (cuz that's her name), and she use to work in a salon, but now she just cuts hair occasionally out of her house.  For me to get a cut and color from her would be about half price of going to my regular girl.  So I thought what the heck, I'll give her a shot.

Huge Mistake.

I can honestly say that I have never hated a hair cut this bad.  Ever.
I feel like I look like this girl:

Ecca

Ok, I don't have bangs, but I promise its just as ugly.
The color is TERRIBLE.  One side of my hair is waay shorter than the other side.  And the short side looks like she took an ax to it, and just swung at my head.

So here's the question.  What do I do?

Do I go back to Jill and have her try and fix it?
Do I suck it up and just leave it, and hope it grows out quickly?
Or do I crawl back to the Kristen, and beg her to take me back and fix it?

I know you will all say to go back to Kristen, but that means that I have to pay her to fix it.  In that case, I'll be paying more for this dumb cut than I would have if I'd have just gone to Kristen in the first place.  And if I get Kristen to fix this hair disaster, what do I say to Jill when I see her next?

I feel like if you pay money for a haircut, you should love it in the end.  Not hate looking in the mirror.

So I need everyones opinion, What do I do??

Kub Car Rally

Matt (and Chase) have been working for a couple weeks on Chases kub car.  I'm surprised (well not really), at how excited everyone is about this car!

Chase decided to make his car look like a skateboard.  It turned out way better than I thought it would.

Here's a photo shoot:

I put this picture in because it shows you the cute yellow wheels, but also my cute wall in the background...

When Matt woke up the morning of the race, the first thing he said was I hope Chases car does good.  Chase was so excited and nervous all morning too.

Here he is at the race.  Notice how Chase has 5 badges, and the kid next to him has none...

Well his car did better than expected.  He won 2 races, which took him into the championship race, (I sound like it was a real sporting event!)  Then in the final race, he got 4th.  He was sooo excited, (and so was Matt).  Weston went to Kub Car races, but I have never been and watched.  It was really fun.  All of the boys really get into it!

I'm sure Matt is all ready planning his - I mean Chases car for next year!

A Bit of This, And A Bit Of That.

(Two posts in one day, I deserve a pat on the back)

Spencer lost his first tooth!!!  He pulled it out himself, and was really excited about it, till he saw the blood.  After about a week, the tooth fairy finally came.  I swear, she is soo lazy!

We did another School Ski Trip.  Kadie, Chase and Spencer all got to go.  Kadie and Spencer are getting to be pretty good skiers.  Spencer is still just learning.  Luckily Matt skied behind him with his leash.

Me and Nixon.

When my mom and sisters came up to visit me, I was so annoyed because I was in charge of this cake auction at our school dance.  I skipped out of going to the dance, but I still had to make a cake for it.  Here it is, it turned out really cute, and I'm happy to say that it sold for the 2nd most money!  Thank you to my friend Tanya for saving my butt, big time!!

St. Patrick's Day

You know how some holidays are more fun than others?  Well, for some reason I really like St. Patricks Day.  I remember as a kid putting so much thought into what I was going to wear.  If I would wear lots of green, or just a little bit, and try and trick people.  Well, I still love it!

One thing that I remember my mom doing was making us green bread to take to school.  So that's what Marlie and I did on Wednesday.  Add a little (lot) of green food coloring, and walla! you have green bread.  Unfortunately, when I use my moms bread recipe, you don't get just one loaf, you get 5.  And really, who needs 5 loaves of green bread?

So I thought it would be fun to deliver the extra loaves to families in our ward with little kids.  The first house we went to, I felt like a complete idiot!  The mom answered the door.   On her front porch stood my gaggle of, hyper kids, handing them a loaf of green bread.  She gave me a very questioning look, and I said that I thought everyone needed green bread for St. Pats Day.  Apparently she didn't agree.  She took the bread with a very forced smile...  hummm, guess who's not getting service from me again?...

At least the other families thought it was cool!

When we lived in Stettler, we were introduced to a new favorite tradition - Leprechaun Traps.  I had never heard of such a thing as a kid, but apparently, leprechauns love to make trouble.  St. Patricks Day Eve, the leprechauns go from house to house and get into mischief.  So kids have started to make traps, and if you catch one, then you get all of their gold.  If I get free gold, I'm all over making a trap of any kind!

I wish that I would have taken pictures of all my kids traps, they were ingenious!  Here's a shot of Kadies.  A cardboard box, with sequins leading up to a hole in the top of the box, with a sign attached that says, "to get the sequins go into the hole."  Here's the trap- once he fell in,there was no way out!!!

Too bad he must have had a knife or something, because in the morning there was a hole stabbed out of the side of thebox, and no leprechaun to be seen.
Here's what he left us!  Chocolate Loonies!!  Spencer, of course thought it was real gold!

For supper tonight, we had a green meal- of course!

Green spinach noodles, with green Alfredo sauce.
Peas
 Cesar Salad
Green Jello
 and Green Juice.

Delicious.

My kids loved it.  and for desert - Green Angle Food Cake.  Yes I used almost a whole pack of green food coloring today!

Hope you all had a Happy St. Patricks Day!

Book Review

When I was a kid, one book that I remember reading over and over, is Where the Red Fern Grows. I loved it!!

So for Christmas this year, I bought a copy and gave it to Kadie. I ranted, and raved, and told her how much I LOVED this book. She was sceptical.

After she finished all the other books she got for Christmas, she picked this one up and started to read it. Of course she loved it. One day after school she came upstairs, eyes puffy, and tears rolling down her cheeks. She told me that she finally finished the book. I remember bawling my eyes out after reading it too. So we had a moment, and talked about the book.

A while ago, I decided to read the book to Chase and Spencer before bed. We would read a little bit each night. Tonight was the night we finished. All I can say is that tears were shed, and noses blown. If you have never read this book, read it! It is amazing. But prepare yourself with some Kleenex near the end.
